Heavy snow warning for Shuswap adds to Hwy 1 storm alert

A snowfall warning has been issued for the Shuswap by Environment Canada.

The region will have been blanketed by about 15 cm of the white stuff by the late morning.

Sicamous will be particularly affected, the warning states.

The agency added: “Snow will ease late this morning.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.”

The alert adds to an earlier warning about a snowstorm on the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle to Rogers Pass.

“A slow moving frontal system will remain over the BC interior today,” that alert read.

“Heavy snowfall associated with this storm will continue through tonight and taper off Wednesday morning.

“Snowfall accumulations of up to 40 cm are expected for this event.

“Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”
