To recap the final month of last year, December 2020 was a couple degrees milder than seasonal.
Our average was 2.7°C for daytime highs last month, slightly higher than seasonal conditions of 0.7°C.
Overnight lows had the same trend, with December 2020’s average at -2.7°C, compared to seasonal lows of -5.9°C.
The seasonal precipitation amount (water equivalent) for the month of December is 32.6 mm.
Last month, we were a few millimetres above seasonal at 38.2 mm.
All monthly statistics in this article are based on data from the weather station at UBCO, and the seasonal statistics in this article are based on the Canadian climate normals 1981-2010 data.
As we look into the first few days of 2021, milder air will move in for the first weekend of the year.
We will say goodbye to Frosty, as we will see mixed precipitation at times for Saturday and Sunday.
