Over the weekend, the team from Coquitlam Little League knocked off a little league team from Quebec to become national champions.
That means the group of pre-teens will be heading to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the annual Little League World Series.

If you’re a young baseball player, the Little League World Series is the pinnacle of the sport and a chance to compete on the highest stage against teams from all over the world.
As if the team wasn’t excited enough for the tournament, which begins today, they got a shoutout on Wednesday that had to hype them up even more.
It came from the Oakland A’s, the MLB team that Coquitlam Little League bases their image on.
The town of Coquitlam, BC has embraced the A's as their hometown Little League team for the past 20 years, and green and gold as the city's colors for even longer than that. We're proud to see our iconic cap on the international stage at the @littleleague World Series. https://t.co/iZqqL9JM7W

“The town of Coquitlam, BC has embraced the A’s as their hometown Little League team for the past 20 years, and green and gold as the city’s colours for even longer than that,” said a tweet from the Oakland A’s.
“We’re proud to see our iconic cap on the international stage at the Little League World Series.”
Such a simple message, but one that surely made a crazy week for these kids even better.

Instead of getting the team’s legal department involved and complaining about the team using their logo or likeness, they chose to go this route.
Since there’s no team from the Bay Area or even California in the tournament, it looks like Canada could have a few extra fans supporting them from the Oakland area.
The boys from Coquitlam begin their tournament with a game against Mexico on Friday at 3 pm PT.
