Warriors season ends with loss to Vipers

After a memorable and impressive comeback win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday, the West Kelowna Warriors season ended with a loss on Sunday.

It was a 4-3 loss to the Vernon Vipers, despite the Warriors best efforts at orchestrating another comeback.

Trailing 3-0 heading into the final period of the season, Tyler Cristall brought the Warriors to within one before Sam Duerr extended the Vipers lead once again.

West Kelowna showed no quit, however, as Nicolas Ardanaz shaved the lead to two with a powerplay goal near the midway mark of the period.

Tyson Jugnauth then found the back of the net with 65 seconds to play, but that’s as close as they would come.

Former Kelowna Rockets goalie James Porter Jr. made 19 saves to secure the win, while Zachary Bennett made 32 saves for the Warriors in the loss.

Unfortunately, West Kelowna finished with the worst record out of three teams playing in the Vernon pod.
