The list of active COVID-19 outbreaks in the BC Interior continues to steadily decline.
Interior Health announced today that the outbreak at Creekside Landing care home in Vernon has been declared over.
“I want to thank the team at Creekside Landing who worked hard with public health to manage this challenging outbreak,” said Susan Brown, president and CEO of IH.
“While it’s a relief to see this long-term care outbreak come to a close, we also send our condolences to the loved ones and caregivers of those who passed away.”
Two people did pass away at Creekside Landing during this outbreak and there were 40 total cases, including 25 residents and 15 staff members.
The number of outbreaks in the BC Interior continues to steadily decline and there are only six that remain active at the moment.
“We are pleased to declare another COVID-19 outbreak over,” said Dr. Albert de Villiers, chief medical health officer for IH.
“As COVID-19 vaccination continues to roll out, we are protecting more of our most vulnerable members of our communities and seeing a decrease in long-term care infections.”
Creekside Landing is privately owned and operated by Kaigo Retirement Communities Ltd. and has 70 publicly-funded long-term care beds.
