As soon as it opened, it closed... but now it's open again!
According to the BC government, Hwy 99 between Lillooet and Pemberton has reopened to essential travel. The road had been closed since Wednesday following a mudslide near Duffy Lake.
Weight restrictions are still in place and any vehicle over 14,500 kg will not be permitted to use the road.
Check stops will be put in place to ensure that restrictions are being followed.
"The highway infrastructure is vulnerable following recent storms. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is monitoring the weather and the performance of the highway."
"People should be aware that Highway 99 and others could be closed at any time if conditions change."
