Police respond to multiple incidents of suspects throwing rocks at vehicles from overpass in south BC

Police in Southern BC had to deal with some very unfortunate situations over the past week.

According to RCMP, multiple incidents were reported where suspects threw rocks at vehicles driving on Hwy 99 from a pedestrian overpass in South Surrey. In some cases, the rocks struck and heavily damaged the cars.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the events. In one incident, a rock the size of a baseball was located.

Investigators are releasing details about each of these incidents and are asking anyone with information or dashcam video to report it to police.

The first incident took place on Nov. 26 at 7:44 pm. Both a transit bus and a semi-truck were damaged.

A second incident took place on Nov. 29 at 10:49 pm. Two semis saw their windows smashed this time.

The final incident occurred on Nov. 30 at 10:20 pm where two more trucks sustained damage.

"These incidents are very concerning. Throwing objects off of the overpass has the potential to cause serious or even fatal injuries to the occupants of vehicles," said Cpl. Vanessa Munn.
