A teacher from 100 Mile House has been arrested and charged in a child exploitation investigation.
Vincent Collins, 33, was arrested on Thursday while he was on his way to work at Peter Skene Secondary School and he remains in custody at this time.
He’s now been charged with one count of child exploitation, which is alleged to have occurred with a young girl, but the RCMP didn’t say whether it was a student.
“Immediately upon learning of the allegations on the evening of April 7, officers commenced a fast moving investigation, which resulted in the arrest early (Thursday) morning,” said S/Sgt. Svend Nielsen.
Nielsen added that the RCMP has been “closely engaged with the school administration and School District 27, who is supporting our investigation.”
The RCMP is releasing this information in the interest of public safety because of Collins’ role as a teacher and his access to children at the school.
Police are also hoping that anyone with additional information will come forward and assist investigators.
Anyone who does have information is urged to contact the 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456.
