BC reports 156 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend

British Columbia reported 156 new cases of COVID-19 this past weekend, bringing the total number of active cases to 653.

On July 17 there were 56 cases reported, July 18 there were 60 cases, and July 19 a total of 40 cases were reported in the province.

Of the new cases, 63 are from Fraser Health, 58 from Interior Health, 27 from Vancouver Coastal Health, four cases in Island Health, and three in Northern Health.

There are currently 49 people in hospital, 12 of whom are in intensive care.

In the last 72 hours two new COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal health regions, which brings the total number of people lost to the pandemic to 1,763.

</who>Photo credit: NowMediaThere are currently two active outbreaks both in the Fraser Health region, one at Laurel Place at Surrey Memorial Hospital, and the other at the Holyrood Manor long-term care home.

A total of 6,173,328 doses of the Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines have been administered since December 2020.

A total of 3,701,843 of eligible people 12 and older in BC have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 2,464,201 have received their second dose.

In addition 3,499,069 of all eligible adults in BC have received their first dose and 2,447,323 have received their second dose.
