Health officials in British Columbia announced 148 new cases of COVID-19 today, with more than half coming from the Fraser Health region.
It’s another encouraging case count for BC, as it’s the eighth time in the last nine days that the province has seen less than 200 new cases.
Hospitalization numbers continue to trend in the right direction as well, with 195 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in BC and 47 of them in critical care.
Unfortunately, there were another three deaths due to the virus over the past 24 hours, which brings the province’s pandemic death toll up to 1,725.
As of today, 74.5% of all adults in BC and 72.4% of those 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
"Canada has some of the highest dose one immunization levels in the world and British Columbia is equally strong,” said today’s joint statement on COVID-19 from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.
"As we progress towards step two of BC's restart plan, we can be assured we are on the right path, and with every person who is fully vaccinated, we are all safer.”
There has been a total of 3,749,758 doses of all three vaccines doled out in BC so far and 390,264 of them are second doses.
