British Columbia is reporting 112 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total active case sound to 603.
Of the new cases, 59 have been reported by Interior Health, 30 by Fraser Health, 15 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, five in Island Health, and three from Northern Health.
Data related to active cases in the province is being reconciled by removing 239 historic cases from BC’s total.
This reflects BC residents who tested positive for COVID-19, but did not fall under the case and contact follow up program in their home health authorities. Examples include cases who tested positive while staying out of province, or who were under the federal quarantine program.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in BC since the pandemic began to 148,842.
There are currently 46 individuals in hospital, with 17 being in intensive care.
Over the past 24 hour, four new COVID-19 related deaths were reported, two from Interior Health, one in Fraser Health, and one from Vancouver Coastal Health. This brings the total number of deaths in BC to 1,767.
There are currently three active outbreaks in BC, one in acute care at Laurel Place in Surrey Memorial Hospital, one in long-term care at the Holyrood Manor, and one at the Nelson Jubilee Manor.
Since December, the province has administered 6,422,503 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines.
As of today, 3,723,154 of eligible people 12 and older in BC have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 2,692,024 have received their second shot.
As well, 3,517,529 of all eligible adults in BC have received their first dose, with 2,654,367 receiving their second shot.
