PG traffic cops investigating after man dies in 2-vehicle crash

A man has died in a two-vehicle collision near Fraser Lake.

It happened near the Dry William Lake rest stop on Hwy 16.

A westbound truck was passing a logging truck but ran out of room and ended up colliding with an oncoming eastbound car, police said.

It happened at about 5:30 pm on Feb. 22.

Each vehicle contained only one person, both of whom were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car – a man in his 40s from the Lower Mainland – subsequently died.

But the pickup driver, a 20-year-old from Alberta, remains alive in hospital.

Police said: “Prince George Regional Traffic Services in Prince George has assumed conduct of this investigation and would like to speak with the driver of the empty, westbound logging truck which had stopped, but departed the scene before police could speak with the driver.

“Anyone with information about this collision, including any dashboard camera video, is asked to contact PGRTS in Prince George at 250-649-4004.”
