Two people were arrested after crashing a stolen vehicle into a police car last week, the Prince George RCMP has said.
Mounties were sent to a parking lot on the corner of Central Street West and 15th Avenue on Feb. 18 at about 1 am.
They had been told a stolen vehicle was inside the lot.
When officers got there, they activated their lights and sirens – but the suspect driver in the stolen vehicle attempted to flee, crashing into a police car.
One officer suffered minor injuries, but others surrounded the vehicle and told both occupants to get out.
Neither obeyed, police said, forcing officers to use a conducted energy weapon “to gain control of the situation.”
“Police arrested both the driver and the passenger and took them to the detachment where they remained for court in the morning,” the RCMP explained.
“Upon examining the vehicle, police located a machete and a disguised conducted energy weapon within reach of the driver.
“Police forwarded multiple charges, including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resist arrest and possession of a weapon, to the BC Prosecution Service for charge assessment.”
