A petition to build a median strip along Hwy 97A has been launched in the wake of a fatal crash on the road at the weekend.
Jessica Tabe, whose grandmother was killed on the road on Feb. 22 this year, said it was past time the highway was updated.
“My grandma Ruth Blencoe was killed in a car accident on Hwy 97 heading to Armstrong,” Tabe wrote.
She added: “How many people have to die on this highway, how many serious accidents have to take place here before it [becomes] a priority?”
Tabe’s grandmother was killed after a head-on collision.
“I would like to believe if there was a meridian her life would have been spared and instead of a celebration of life, we would have celebrated her recovery,” she explained.
