Cranberries lead singer Dolores O'Riordan dies at age 46

The music industry lost an iconic singer today.

Dolores O’Riordan, lead singer of The Cranberries, was found dead in her London hotel room, her publicist confirms.

She was 46 years old.

“Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at the time,” said the statement from her publicist. “No further details are available at this time.”

The Irish band Kodaline was the first to pay tribute over social media, tweeting that they were “absolutely shocked” to hear of O’Riordan’s passing.

Kodaline opened for The Cranberries when the band toured through France in 2012.

O’Riordan and The Cranberries formed in Limerick, Ireland in 1989 and rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like ‘Zombie’ and ‘Linger.’

Their latest album, Something Else, was released in April 2017, but the band’s summer tour was canceled due to O’Riordan’s health issues.

The cause of her death is unknown at this time.
