Speed believed to be a factor as motorcyclist seriously injured in Kelowna crash

A two-vehicle crash in Kelowna on Sunday night sent a 26-year-old man to hospital with major injuries.

The accident happened on Hwy 33 at Gerstmar Road around 7:20 pm.

An orange Honda motorcycle travelling westbound on Hwy 33 struck the rear end of a grey sedan as it waited to make a left hand turn onto Gerstmar Road,” explained an RCMP release.

The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and was transported to Kelowna General Hospital with “what are believed to be serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.”

“This collision is still under investigation, but speed is believed to have been a factor,” explained Sgt. Mark Booth.

Anyone who witnessed this collision and has yet to talk to police is urged to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
