Rolling road closures happening in Rutland for Vaisakhi Parade

The city is advising Rutland residents to prepare for rolling road closures on Saturday for the annual Vaisakhi Parade.

The event will cause rolling closures from 11 am until 2 pm.

A news release from the city says Sumac Road, Sycamore Road, Wallace Road and Ortt Road will be restricted to local traffic from 9 am until 3 pm.

The Okanagan Sikh Temple and Culture Society says the parade kicks off at noon and all members of the community are invited to enjoy the parade, food and more.

“Flaggers will be present at all intersections to help direct traffic,” the city says.

“Parking will be restricted along the parade route starting at 9 am.”

Spectators are invited to park at Rutland middle or secondary school.

Shuttles will be available to transport participants to and from the Okanagan Sikh Temple.
