Police incident on border of Kelowna and Lake Country ends with arrest

A man is in custody after a police incident on the border of Kelowna and Lake Country.

RCMP in the Central Okanagan converged on a mobile home complex in the 700 block of Beaver Lake Road on Wednesday night.

The incident, contained to a single unit within the complex, involved a distraught man who police believed may have access to weapons.

After multiple hours, the 60-year-old man was apprehended by tactical members of the RCMP Southeast District Emergency Response Team.

A police service dog also assisted in the arrest.

After being medically assessed at the scene and transported to hospital, the suspect was clear and brought into custody.

He remains in custody at this time and faces potential charges after police found a loaded firearm inside his residence.

RCMP continue to secure the scene and investigate the incident, which may include a further search of the property.
