An injured driver was rescued after a vehicle fell down an embankment off a forestry road in Kelowna yesterday.

Kelowna Fire Department (KFD) Platoon Captain Tim Light said firefighters were called about the incident around 7:10 pm.

The RCMP and BCAS were also sent to help.

A vehicle had fallen about 20 feet off Gillard Forest Service Road.

Platoon Captain Light explained: “The team assembled a rope rescue system and lowered three members down to the patient to assess and package the patient.

“The team then raised the patient using the rope system. The patient was handed over to the waiting BCAS members.”

KFD’s team consisted of one incident commander, six technical team crew and a safety officer.
