This gives a whole new meaning to balcony seating.
Typically, balcony seating for live performances is the upper portion of an arena, theatre, concert hall or sports stadium.
For the purposes of May 15th's 'Stay-Cay with Anna J' in Kelowna, the seating for the poolside jazz quartet concert is actually on the balconies of hotel rooms at the Coast Capri facing the courtyard containing a glittering 25-metre pool.
"Each room balcony will be your VIP seats," said Anna Jacyszyn, the 'Anna J' in the 'Stay-Cay with Anna J' and the headliner with the Anna Jacyszyn Quartet.
"This is the perfect idea for a change of environment, while still adhering to the Interior Health rules as a result of the global pandemic. Being able to perform at the Capri Hotel again is a dream for me, as I miss seeing so many of my loyal fans."
The hotel has created three special packages for people to get out of the house during COVID, savour a gourmet meal and enjoy the concert.
The first Stay-Cay includes a hotel room with the aforementioned pool-facing balcony for the night of Saturday, May 15, a three-course meal set on the balcony or pool deck, including a bottle of red or white wine or a beer growler, and the concert 7-9 pm.
The cost starts at $280 for a couple staying in the same room.
The second Stay-Cay is for four people in the same bubble to have dinner together, either on a hotel balcony or poolside table, and two hotel rooms for the two couples.
Cost starts at $480 for four people for dinner, concert and hotel rooms.
If you only want dinner and a show, the cost is $180 per couple, and you will be seated at poolside tables for two or four, if all four are in the same bubble.
Tickets are available by calling the Coast Capri Hotel at 250-860-6060.
The concert also officially launches the reopening of the hotel's Vintner's Grill for patio and poolside breakfasts and lunches as the province's COVID ban on indoor restaurant dining continues.
Jacyszyn is a Kelowna girl who toured the world singing before returning to her hometown to continue performing with Jazz Cafe Kelowna and her own quartet.
