A Kamloops youth was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning following a residential break-in attempt.
The RCMP was called to the 1100 block of Bentley Place around 2:50 am for reports of the break and enter attempt.
According to a police statement, the suspect allegedly climbed a garden trellis to get up to a second-storey deck, but they were noticed and chased off by the home’s resident.
Officers began patrolling the area and were alerted by another citizen that a suspicious person was running down a long driveway on Parkcrest Avenue.
Police attended the address and as an officer approached a shed, a person ran out and into the darkness,” explained the police statement.
“The police service dog tracked the person back to a residence, where a teenage suspect was identified and arrested.”
The suspect has since been released on conditions with a court date and charges may be recommended pending the investigation’s outcome.
