The Face of Leather, Vinyl and Plastic Repair: Peter & Patricia Eisler

Customer satisfaction is what it’s all about for Peter and Patricia Eisler. “We take great pride in solving problems and helping people,” says Peter, who owns and operates Fibrenew Kamloops with his wife, Patricia. “I’ve always worked with my hands and I love applying that to the repair and maintenance of leather, vinyl and plastic. This includes furniture, automotive, marine, medical, vinyl siding and PVC window casings.”

Much of Fibrenew’s work in Kamloops is residential furniture, but it also does repairs and maintenance on boats, cars, airplanes, trains, RVs, medical office’s, restaurant interiors, vinyl siding on homes and PVC window casings.

Some of their favourite jobs are repair and maintenance on the interiors of the Rocky Mountaineer trains as well as a small part in a History Channel TV series based in Tappen, BC, Rust Valley Restorers. Fibrenew can even repair scuffed-up and damaged vinyl bathtubs.

Fibrenew is mobile, so it does most of its work at their customers’ homes and places of business. “We’re big fans of repair rather than replace,” says Peter. “We’re always working at giving the best advice and service to customers and we also enjoy educating customers on how to look after and maintain their leather and vinyl so it looks good and lasts a long time.”

Before purchasing the Fibrenew Kamloops franchise in 2015, Peter and Patricia lived in Williams Lake and Peter ran a steel shop but also travelled for work as a steel fabricator/millwright. “It was really a lifestyle move for us,” says Patricia. “Peter was born and raised in Kamloops, and while I’m originally from Prince George, I went to high school in Kamloops and that’s where Peter and I met.”

This homecoming has been a huge success, both personally and professionally. “It’s nice to have a homebase and work together,” says Patricia. “But, it can have it’s challenges,” adds Patricia with a laugh. “For instance, Peter is a perfectionist and that can be good and frustrating at the same time.”

Peter tends to do most of the repairs and maintenance, while Patricia handles any leather or vinyl sewing that has to be done, along with administration for the business. They make for an incredible team.

However, the plan is to expand the team as the business grows with an employee or two.
