Mounties in Kamloops responded in big numbers to a report of a family disturbance last night.
They were called at about 9 pm and told that a man in a home was “acting erratically” and “brandishing a large knife in a threatening manner.”
When police arrived at the property – in Mountainview Place, Westsyde – the other residents were able to get out safely.
That left the man, a 27-year-old, alone inside.
Mounties soon made contact with him and ultimately made an arrest without incident.
"Clearly, these are very serious and dangerous types of events, and we can't afford to take any chances," said S/Sgt. Van Laer.
"We want to thank the residents of the area that complied with all the safety measures requested by our responding members.”
The officer added that “those measures are meant to keep both the public and police safe while responding to potentially violent incidents.”
"While we can't comment any further on the details of this ongoing investigation, we can certainly confirm that we have no more public safety concerns for that area," S/Sgt. Van Laer concluded.
