A 33-year-old Kamloops man has been charged with two counts of abduction of a person under the age of 16.
The Comox RCMP arrested the man on Tuesday as part of an investigation started by the Kamloops RCMP on Monday after receiving a report of an abduction, says a news release.
Mounties in Kamloops received a report involving two youth who were allegedly taken without lawful authority or the consent of their parent, guardian or person responsible for their care.
“As part of the investigation, Kamloops police officers initiated a multi-jurisdiction response with detachments across the province, and the youths were quickly and safely located,” said Cpl. Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
Police say Janos K Juckiewicz, 33, of Kamloops is charged with two counts of abduction of a person under the age of 16.
He is being kept in custody until his next court appearance, which is scheduled for later this week.
The news release says no other information will be released at this time because the matter is now before the courts.
