UPDATE: Roads reopened after gas leak discovery at Kamloops construction site

(Update @ 7 p.m.): The incident has now been resolved and all roads reopened, the RCMP said.

(Original story @ 5:41 p.m.): An area of Kamloops has been evacuated after a gas leak was discovered at a construction site.

Kamloops RCMP said they are helping the fire department deal with the incident, on the 2000 block of Qu’appelle Blvd.

It is the construction site of a condo.

Mounties said the evacuation was ordered as a precaution.

No traffic – on foot or in a vehicle – is permitted on Qu’appelle, west of Highland Rd (roundabout) until further notice.
