Early-morning shooting leads to high-risk takedown of wrong vehicle in Kamloops

For a brief period this morning, the Kamloops RCMP thought they had their man.

Officers were searching for a suspect after a shooting around 6:45 am in Anglemont, east of Chase.

One victim of the shooting was sent to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect vehicle was seen speeding away from the area after the shooting and a vehicle matching the description was spotted around 9:40 am near Pritchard.

The RCMP engaged in a high-risk takedown of the vehicle on Hwy 1 near Vicars Road, but discovered that the vehicle and its occupants were not associated with the shooting.

They were all released at the scene.

Police say the suspect and victim are known to each other and the general public is not currently believed to be at risk.

No further information is being made available at this time, but anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Chase RCMP at 250-679-3221.
