(UPDATE: March 13, 2020 @ 2:45 pm) - Cirque du Soleil has cancelled its summer tour dates in British Columbia.

All tickets purchased at Select Your Tickets via the internet or phone will automatically be refunded to the purchasing credit card on file.

Anyone who bought tickets in person will need to visit the Select Your Tickets box office to get a refund.

Shows in Victoria, Abbotsford, Kamloops and Prince George have also been cancelled.

(Original story: Nov. 20, 2019 @ 9:30 am) - Cirque du Soleil is coming back to the Okanagan and this time it’s on ice.

From Thursday, June 11 until Sunday, June 14, the stunning on-ice production called AXEL will take over Prospera Place.

It’s one of four BC stops for the touring production, which will also have shows in Kamloops, Victoria and Abbotsford.

AXEL is about a young graphic artist and musician, named Axel, who dives into his hand-drawn universe as he falls in love with a captivating woman.

Together, the pair begin a fast-moving quest to retrieve the stolen light from the supervillain Vï.

"The music serves as a narrative thread guiding our characters and our audiences as they journey with Axel and Lei to discover that true love shines even brighter than the most radiant star,” says a description of the show.

“Inspired by the atmosphere of big arena concerts, AXEL is a high-energy and exhilarating experience where acrobatic and skating performances are supported by Axel’s pop music, visual effects, lighting and laser show.”

AXEL is the newest Cirque du Soleil creation and it brings the incredible discipline of freestyle skating to light.

Tickets for the show are now on sale and can be purchased through the Cirque du Soleil website.
