For the second time in less than a week, Interior Health has declared a large community COVID-19 cluster over.
Today, it’s the Williams Lake cluster that has been deemed contained, despite new cases being associated with it since the last update on Friday.
“Given the decline in cases and manageable COVID-19 circulation, the IH chief medical health officer considers the cluster contained,” said a release from the health authority.
There were four new cases identified and connected to the cluster since Friday, bringing the total number of cases 421 since New Year’s Day.
At this time, there are 33 active cases and 388 people who have recovered, with no deaths connected to the cluster.
IH thanked local First Nations Chiefs, elected officials and community leaders for their support over the last few weeks.
Despite this cluster being contained, the health authority is still asking people throughout the BC Interior to remain vigilant in their efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
