Passengers aboard 8 flights into YVR now warned of COVID-19 exposure

The Canadian government has identified an additional two flights carrying passengers diagnosed with COVID-19 into Vancouver International Airport.

In June, the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) reported that six flights landing at YVR had passengers who tested positive for the virus.

Monday's update now makes a total of eight flights carrying at least one passenger with COVID-19 into Vancouver:

  • June 3 - Delta flight 3898 - Seattle
  • June 16 - Air Canada flight 217 - Saskatoon
  • June 18 - Air Canada flight 557 - Los Angeles
  • June 21 - Flair Airlines flight 8102 - Toronto
  • June 21 - Air Canada flight AC428 - Toronto
  • June 25 - Aeromexico flight AMX696 - Mexico City

No information regarding specific seats was released by BC CDC, but all passengers aboard the identified flights are now being ordered to self-isolate for 14-days.

Air Canada and WestJet removed physically distanced seating plans on all flights at the beginning of July, a move criticized by BC Health Minister Adrian Dix.

Currently, all passengers landing from outside of Canada are required to provided border agents with their plans to self-isolate for 14-days.

There is no mandatory self-isolation for those flying within Canada.
