BC reports 47 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths

In a written statement on Wednesday, health officials reported 47 new cases on COVID-19 in BC over the past 24-hours.

There have been no new deaths in the past 24 hours, leaving the provincial death toll at 195.

The province last recorded a coronavirus-related death on Friday, July 31.

Officials continue to report an uptick in the number of COVID-19 patients in hospital.

BC had nine such patients on Wednesday, up from eight the day before, with six of them in intensive care, up from four.

The province now has 351 active cases, up 32 from the day before.

There have been no new community outbreaks, but there have been a number of public exposures — including flights in and out of the province.

Dr. Bonnie Henry is continuing to urge BC residents to keep their bubbles small, as they may unknowingly spread the virus to others in the days following the B.C. Day long weekend.

"Younger people, in particular, may not fully understand why many of the activities they normally enjoy are no longer available, look different and require us to interact with each other in new ways," concluded Wednesday statement.
