Three Salmon Arm Mounties have been praised by their detachment for saving a man’s life.
The trio's unusual day began when an officer was flagged down while patrolling on Sept. 2.
He was told a man was overdosing on “street drugs.”
Salmon Arm RCMP explained: “The officer immediately attended to the overdosing man and administered Naloxone.
“The overdosing man was not breathing and had no pulse. The officer started CPR and called for an ambulance.
“As he was doing CPR, another officer attended and administered another dose of Naloxone.”
A third officer then arrived with a defibrillator, the use of which led to the man recovering consciousness.
The man was then able to walk into an ambulance and was taken to hospital.
“As a result of the quick actions of man at the roadside, the intervening officers, and the subsequent care given by the ambulance paramedics, tragedy was successfully averted,” the RCMP added.
“At last report, the man appeared to be able to make a full recovery.”
