An arsonist is behind bars following an incident in Quesnel last week.
According to police, on Feb. 8, RCMP officers assisted the fire department with a structure fire at 520 Anderson Drive. When emergency services arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.
Investigators determined that the blaze was set by an arsonist and that it started in the back of the home.
A suspect was soon identified. It was learned that the suspect also stole a laptop and cash from the home he set ablaze.
Two days later, Bobby Schilling, a 39-year-old Quesnel resident, was charged with arson, intentionally causing damage by fire to property knowing it is reckless and theft under $5,000.
Schilling was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Feb. 23.
