A police officer, three civilians and two suspects were killed in a shooting in Jersey City on Tuesday afternoon. Mayor Steven Fulop says the Jewish market is believed to have been the target, as the shooting started at a nearby cemetery and moved towards the market. The shooters’ motive, however, is unclear at this time.
Jersey City Police Chief Michael Kelly said the 6 dead included 2 suspects and 3 people believed to be civilians who were found inside a building.

One of the MLB’s best pitchers, Gerrit Cole, has found a new home. The 2019 Cy Young runner-up has signed a nine-year, $324-million contract with the New York Yankees. It’s a new record for both average salary and guaranteed money for a pitcher in the MLB. Last season, Cole became the 18th pitcher in league history to strike out 300 batters in a season.

A 6,000-unit rental housing project on First Nation land in Vancouver has been overwhelmingly approved by Squamish Nation. It’s the largest development on First Nation lands in Canada and the City of Vancouver won’t have any power over what is built on the site. The 11.7-acre site near the Burrard Street Bridge will be home to 11 towers.
