Six police officers were shot in Philadelphia on Wednesday, but none of them suffered serious injuries. It happened during a lengthy standoff that began with reports of an active shooter around 4:30 pm ET. The eight-hour standoff involved a man who was been indicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm back in 2007.

A car drove into a home in London, Ont. on Wednesday night, triggering an explosion that destroyed seven homes. At this time, police believe a ruptured gas line is what caused the massive blast. The driver, a woman from Kitchener, was taken into custody and charged with impaired driving. Four firefighters suffered minor injuries.

A passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing in a cornfield outside of Moscow today. The plane hit a flock of birds, which disabled both engines, forcing the pilot to make the well-executed landing. None of the 226 passengers or seven crew members were injured.

For the second time in a week, Japan is dealing with a tropical storm. Krosa made landfall in the western part of the country today, forcing the cancellation of multiple flights and train services. Hundreds of thousands of people have also been advised to evacuate as record rains and high winds are expected.

Will Alien Stock become the next Fyre Festival? A lot of people certainly think so. The world’s newest music festival will take place in the tiny 50-person town of Rachel, Nevada in September. It was born from the ‘Storm Area 51’ event, which went viral in July and saw millions of people RSVP. Rather than attempt to storm the restricted area, organizers have planned this music festival instead.
