The best ideas usually come from staff, according to Kot Auto Group president John Kot.
Kot Coat Drive is no exception.
Last year, some employees recommended a big collection box be placed in the centre of the Kelowna Hyundai showroom to accept donations of new and gently-used coats for the less fortunate.
The result was 450 coats, which were distributed by staff to homeless people downtown and the Salvation Army to families in need.
This year Kot Auto Group dealerships Buy Direct Truck Centre, Kelowna Kia, Penticton Nissan, Maple Ridge Hyundai and Victoria Hyundai are joining Kelowna Hyundai in an effort to see 800 coats donated.

And it doesn't just have to be coats for men, women and kids.
Jackets, toques, scarves, mitts and gloves will also be accepted.
"No one should be without proper winter attire," said Kot.
The coat drive has already begun and continues to the first week of December.
Kot is also challenging other businesses and individuals to collect coats from employees, co-workers, friends, family and neighbours to drop off at any of the dealerships and bolster the numbers.
Kot is big on giving back.
Kot and his wife, Trina, give each employee $500 annually for them to donate to the charity of their choosing.
The company raised $100,000 for Kelowna General Hospital with Operation 200 and donated $30,000 to the Central Okanagan Food Bank in May.
