Calling all passionate difference makers

Nothing halts your progress like walking into a locked door. Without the right key, the potential of the other side is unachievable.

Back in 1953, a group of parents, teachers, doctors and citizens recognized that those with diverse abilities in their community were being limited by these ‘locked doors,’ and henceforth, Pathways Abilities Society has educated and equipped a team of support workers with the keys to unlock the full potential of their fellow community members… and now, they’re about to educate and equip a new generation of support workers, who Pathways hopes, is you.

Over the years, this non-profit society has unlatched its ability to provide support through the administration of numerous services that recognize fundamental rights and potential for growth.

One of the many initiatives through which Pathways makes a difference is its Activity Service. Individuals right here in Kelowna jump at the opportunity to develop skills that promote self-esteem and independence through a broad range of productive and meaningful activities including volunteering thousands of hours in the community each year.

By embracing, empowering and employing individuals with diverse abilities for over 65 years, the staff at Pathways Abilities Society has opened the doors to a better and stronger community that welcomes everyone.

An empowering environment paired with the right support enables uninhibited progress on the path to achieving one’s goals and the team at Pathways wants you to be a part of it.

In particular, Pathways has rewarding support worker positions available for anyone with this level of experience:

  • Human Service Workers
  • Care Aids
  • Certified Teaching Assistants
  • Possesses a post-secondary education in human services

In these essential roles, support workers have the opportunity to make a direct impact on those overcoming their own day-to-day obstacles and promote clients’ development in ways otherwise just outside of their reach.

If coming to work each day inspired to embrace, empower and employ sounds like the right fit for you or someone you know, Pathways Abilities Society is growing.

Pathway Abilities Society's mission is “to assist people with diverse-abilities to reach their individual goals and to participate and contribute as equal members of the community”. Our vision is "of welcome. Join us in building communities that support and value the diverse abilities of all people”.

Pathways has a permanent and casual, day and asleep Support Worker positions available.

Employees are required to have, or be willing to obtain within three months of being employed, the following: Valid CPR / First Aid certificate, TB skin test, Hepatitis B inoculation, doctor's certificate of good mental and physical health from a physician who has known you for at least 2 years, valid Food Safe Certificate, valid Class 4 Driver’s License, drivers abstract, valid business class car insurance, daily use of a vehicle and a satisfactory criminal records search.
