Canadians feeling more anger towards feds than at any point in last 5 years: survey

A pollster that has tracked Canadians’ anger towards the federal government since 2018 says voters have never been as furious as they are now.

The Nanos survey found that 31 per cent of respondents said “anger” best describes how they feel towards Ottawa.

Another 31 per cent said “pessimism” was closer to the mark, while 11 per cent said “disinterest.”

It wasn’t all doom and gloom, however, as 11 per cent said they felt “satisfaction” with the feds and 10 per cent said “optimism” best describes their feelings.

This time last year, Nanos found that only 21 per cent felt anger towards Ottawa. In March 2020, just 11 per cent felt that way.

The angriest Canadians, according to the survey, are those aged between 18 and 34, while men are considerably angrier than women.

Nanos said it conducted the poll over the phone and online between March 31 and April 1.

There were 1,069 Canadian adult participants in the survey.
