Take note BC drivers, an unlocked car door is an invitation to thieves and curious bears alike.
Footage of a curious bear is making the rounds on social media this week after the creature managed to open a car door and have a look around with relative ease.
The video was posted Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Coquitlam, BC, and appears to be captured by a security camera outside of a home.
“Our student Terry was house-sitting in Anmore this past week and this was some startling surveillance video from in front of the house,” wrote the studio.
“You have to watch this, we had no idea bears could do this and apparently did the same thing on the other side of the car.”
Blackbear sightings in public areas have been on the rise this summer in BC, especially in several neighbourhoods around Metro Vancouver.
Residents who spot a bear outside of its natural habitat are asked to report the sighting to WildSafe BC, all recent sightings across the province can be viewed by clicking here.
