It’s not a good start to the week for B.C. highways.
The Coquihalla (Hwy 5) is closed southbound between Hope and the summit following a vehicle incident.
The exact location of the closure is at the Portia Interchange (exit 202).
It’s been closed since around 1 a.m. and isn’t expected to reopen until 2 p.m., according to DriveBC.
Detours are available via Hwy 5A to Hwy 3 or Hwy 8 to Hwy 1.

Even once the road opens, there will likely be significant delays as traffic has lined up on the highway throughout the night.
