26-year-old Salmon Arm woman dies in overnight crash on Hwy 1

A young woman is dead after an overnight crash near Eagle Creek.

Passing motorists notified the Revelstoke RCMP about a vehicle over the embankment of the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) around 3:45 a.m. today.

Upon arrival, RCMP determined the white 2015 Jeep Patriot was being driven westbound by a 26-year-old woman, the lone occupant of the vehicle.

The car travelled over the embankment and ended up around 25 metres from the road, only coming to a stop when it struck a tree.

Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service provided first aid, but the Salmon Arm woman died as a result of her injuries.

Emergency crews closed the road for a short amount of time for the extraction of the vehicle and the motor vehicle collision scene analysis, but is fully open at this point.

The investigation into the accident continues.
