DKA still seeking vendors for new Downtown Kelowna Night Market

We’re exactly five weeks away from the launch of the new Downtown Kelowna Night Market and there’s still room for vendors to apply.

Initially announced by the Downtown Kelowna Association (DKA) in March, the new market will comprise a mix of downtown businesses, along with local artisans, crafters and food producers.

It will debut in Kerry Park and the 200 block of Bernard Avenue on May 30 and take place every Thursday, with the exception of June 27 and Aug. 1, until Labour Day weekend.

There are still vendor spaces available for various dates and the DKA is encouraging local producers to apply before it’s too late.

Local artisans, crafters and food producers can submit their applications through an online form.

“The DKA is taking a thoughtful approach to vendor composition; as such, all applicants are subject to the same criteria for consideration,” said a DKA release.

“Prospective vendors should familiarize themselves with the criteria for eligibility before submitting their application. Applications for the Night Market will be accepted until the market is full.”

The night market is the latest addition to Meet Me on Bernard, and the DKA calls it a key component of the evolving programming strategy for the summer initiative.

While the new night market won’t kick off until May 30, the general Meet Me on Bernard program begins Friday, May 17.

That’s when Bernard Avenue will close to vehicle traffic between Abbott Street and Water Street, just in time for the May long weekend.

On Friday, June 28, the closure will extend a block further to Pandosy Street.
