Disney unveils first look at its new streaming service

We finally have some information about the highly anticipated Disney streaming service.

Disney+ will launch in North America this fall and cost subscribers either $6.99 USD per month or $69.99 USD per year.

It’ll be available in the United States on Nov. 12, 2019 and it’s expected to drop in Canada shortly after.

The streaming service will offer fans plenty of content from a variety of the company’s brands like Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.

A “robust library of theatrical and television content” will be available when Disney+ first launches, but the company is promising plenty of additions in the first year.

More than 25 original series and 10 original films, documentaries and specials will be added to the streaming service throughout its first 12 months.

One of the biggest bits of content that will be available to Disney+ subscribers is all 30 seasons of The Simpsons, something Netflix users have been requesting for some time.

It’s also expected that the streaming service will eventually bundle Disney+ with Hulu and ESPN+ for users around the world, offering another pair of popular services that are currently only available to Americans.

“We’re extremely excited about our growing portfolio of direct-to-consumer offerings,” said Kevin Mayer, Disney’s chairman of direct-to-consumer and international content.

“As we demonstrated today, with Disney+ we will deliver extraordinary entertainment in innovative ways to audiences around the world.”

As for the user experience, Disney promises that Disney+ subscribers will be able to create customer profiles and receive personalized experiences curated to their own unique tastes.

Disney+ will also be available on a wide range of mobile and connected devices, including gaming consoles, streaming media players and smart TVs.

You'll also be able to download content that you can access offline when you're not connected to data or wifi.

There’s plenty to be excited about ahead of the streaming service’s November launch and Disney promises that it will rapidly expand globally following its U.S. debut.
