Popular kids' speaker recalled due to fire hazard

A popular kids’ speaker has been recalled due to fears it could pose a fire hazard.

The Yoto Mini Speaker’s lithium battery can overheat and catch fire, Health Canada said in a public notice.

The agency said Yoto has received six reports of the battery melting or overheating in the US, but none in Canada.

Anyone in possession of the speaker is urged to immediately stop using it and get in touch with Yoto to be sent a replacement charging cable.

Yoto told Health Canada it sold just under 20,000 of the speakers in Canada between 2021 and 2023.

In the US, it sold more than 250,000.

The product was manufactured in China.
