Music legend, Willie Nelson is back with new music.
The 84-year-old singer will release a new album on Friday, April 27, 2018, just a short few days before his 85th Birthday on April 29.
The album titled, Last Man Standing and the first single of the same name, sees Nelson take a posivitie approach to the rather dark reality that his musical peers of the same era are passing away quickly.
With lyrics like “It’s getting hard to watch my pals check out, it cuts like a wore out knife.” You can’t help but feel the same heartache as Nelson, despite the songs upbeat nature.
Lines such as “Waylon and Ray, Merle and ol’ Arlo, lived just as fast as me, I’ve still got a lot of good friends left, and I wonder who the next will be.” pays tribute to the country legends lost in the new millennium.
It also floods listeners with an overwhelming sensation of gratitude for their work and the fact that we still have Willie Nelson around.
The album which boasts 11, newly-penned songs from Nelson and longtime producer Buddy Cannon, shows that Nelson’s creativity and artistry are still at an all-time high.
Though Nelson is known as a country star, his music is always an adventure to listen to, with folk, jazz and rock influences in abundance.
Last Man Standing will be released for digital download, on CD and a 12” Vinyl LP.
